go big? no, go home.

"Oh my goodness, I can't believe [insert radio/tv station] is playing my favorite band. Gag me on a stick! How dare they exploit my music!"

Have you ever uttered those words? I know I have, countless times. Maybe not in that exact format, but those words have been sprayed in the atmosphere.

Why is it that people are so possessive over music? If you're a fan, shouldn't you be happy they're getting recognition? That they'll be able to support themselves, and their family? Starving musicians aren't called "starving" for publicity. Having Mtv and Fuse "exploit" your favorite band doesn't mean they're selling out. It frankly means they are good enough for commercialization, they're good enough for ratings, they're good enough to get money in their pocket so they can reward you, yes you, a new album in the next coming year.

See, fan? The artist loves you so much that they're willing to take that plunge into "social suicide" territory so they can give you what you want, what you DEMAND.

And you never say thank you. They thank you in their "shout outs." Without you, they're nothing.

How can they be something with one? They need to bring in the masses. Without the masses, they can't do a thing.

Moral of story;
Shut up about your favorite musician getting recognition. It's going to happen, one way or another.
